Post-Cataclysm, the quest line still exists, but it has been abbreviated (and no longer requires a trip to Booty Bay). Faldir's Cove is also marked in giant letters on the new map, so even if you had no other information, you'd figure something had to be down there.
Doing the quests in Faldir's cove give you +Steamwheedle and -Bloodsail rep and also be the most hidden quest line in Wow Mists of Pandaria, and I didn't find the cove until after I had finished 1-4 above, in late Wrath. So I never did the quest line, and then it went away come Cata.
Being able to fly everywhere makes hiding these a lot harder. One that comes to mind is the cave in Darkshore that can be accessed by jumping through a whirlpool - although since there's an NPC inside, I suppose there is probably a quest on the Alliance side that sends you there; but as a Horde player, finding this was really cool... and caused me to kill my character accidentally when I saw a similar whirlpool in Stranglethorn.
